UC Davis Police Department is committed to making a difference to victims
of violence and understands the seriousness of this problem and
its potentially devastating ramifications. We offer victims critically
needed support
through our professionalism and sensitivity to the issues, insuring
that they are not re - victimized. We collaborate along with other campus
programs
and organizations to create a coordinated response.
We will continue to encourage reporting of violence against women and hope to significantly increase the number of women who freely and voluntarily elect to file a report with law enforcement.

There were five robberies reported during 2004. Four actual and one attempt.
Four of the robberies were strong arm in nature and in the fifth a knife
was used. Only minor injuries occurred. Three subjects were arrested,
thus closing two of the cases.

There were eight reported incidents of aggravated assault
involving twelve victims. Seven incidents were on the
UC Davis campus and one at the Medical Center. Six of
the assaults on campus occurred in public areas. One
occurred in a dorm room. Six of the victims were UCD
Police officers. Three officers were assaulted by vehicles
and three were assaulted with a firearm. The remaining
incidents involved two UCD Students. All cases were
cleared by arrest or exceptional means.
In the assault at the Medical Center, no life threatening injuries were
sustained.

Burglaries went from 90 reported in 2003 to 95 in 2004, up four. The
majority of burglaries that occurred were non-force with possible key
entries.

There were a total of 428 other thefts. Stereos, CD’s and cellular
phones were popular items to steal in 2004. The two most common methods
of entry were smashed windows and punched out locks of vehicles. Bicycle
thefts decreased 19% on the Davis campus.

In the six arsons in 2004, approximately $810 in property loss was reported.
